Call for Committee Volunteers
The Board of Directors desires to obtain the widest possible participation from members of the Association in POA committees for the coming year. Most of these committees have much important work ahead in the coming months and can make very good use of the experience and expertise of the various property owners. Volunteer committee work is an important factor in reducing the potential expenses of operating the Association. Much of the work of committee volunteers is work that might otherwise have to be performed by paid employees, increasing the expenses of operating the Association.
It is expected that many of the committees will need to meet several times per month for the first few months of 2006. For those property owners who for various reasons have not been able to devote time to the committees in the past, if there is any way that you can find the time and willingness to serve in the first half of the coming year, now is the time that your help will be most needed and most appreciated.
The Board wishes to express its sincere thanks to all of those members who have unselfishly devoted their time in the past and particularly to the chairs and secretaries of these committees, who bear additional burdens. We sincerely hope that you will continue to offer your time and expertise to your fellow property owners.
The Board desires to fill each committee with members who have relevant and useful experience related to the purposes for each particular committee and who represent a cross section of the views and interests of all property owners. The Board desires that committees hear and consider all views, as the Board wishes to fully consider all sides of all issues. This is intended to insure that wherever decisions are required to be made, they will be the best possible decisions that can be made.
At least one Director will sit on most of the committees and will function on the committee with the same status as any other member of that committee. Directors will not chair any of the committees. Committee chairs will impartially preside over the meetings of the committee, and each committee will operate as a deliberative body which reports to the Board.
The composition of all of the committees for 2006 is open. The recently established 2005 audit committee will continue its work related to the 2005 fiscal year and a distinct 2006 audit committee will be selected by the members at the annual meeting. The Board will select members for all other committees from those who express a willingness to serve.
The committees presently being considered include:
Airport Authority Committee
Architectural Review Committee
Budget and Finance Committee
Children’s Recreation Committee
Community Relations Committee
Legal and Bylaws Committee
Public Works Committee
Safety and Security Committee
Update Committee
The Board has begun to review the previous charters and resolutions related to each of the above committees, and will revise these as necessary to insure that the committees in their totality will cover all areas for which the Association has duties and responsibilities under the governing documents.
Any member or resident who wishes to volunteer for any specific committee, or for committee work in general, should write, fax, or e-mail the secretary or any Board member. It will be useful if you can include a resume, curriculum vitae, or letter outlining any experience or expertise that you wish the Board to consider. Several committees have need for members with particular skills which include backgrounds in the fields of law, airport management, audit and finance, contract administration, public works, civil engineering and corporate management.
Any members with thoughts regarding the committees can write, fax, or e-mail the POA Manager and your communications will be passed to all members of the Board.
Again, the Board wishes to thank all who have volunteered in the past and all who are willing to offer their time and expertise to help continue to make the Spruce Creek Fly-In Community such a great place to live. |
